The proposed concept was influenced by both the modern design movement and contemporary design, with a feature of full height glazing encompassed by a cantilevered feature box. With northern harbor outlooks, the connection between the views through the open-plan living into the internal courtyard reinforced the modern indoor/outdoor flow. The addition of the landscaped planter boxes, basement level and off street parking allowed for a greater street appeal and presence. A nod to the mid century modern movement is recognised through the clean, unadorned interiors and use of natural materials such as timber. The selection of the external natural timber cladding follows through into the interior with the use of exposed natural timber flooring, walls and stairs. The natural timber is contrasted with dark feature box cladding and window frames, a contrast that continues internally through the black kitchen cabinetry, fixtures and fittings.
