Divided into three volumes of differing function, the house was carefully conceived to embrace the essence of the rural setting while giving the sense of tranquility and relaxation, bringing the idea of a luxury holiday into the intimacy of the clients home. Each volume, slightly shifted from each other, with gable roof lines extending beyond the external walls, creates outdoor spaces of varying sizes around the home.
The client, a commercial builder, requested the use of solid precast concrete walls. These are offset by the lightweight timber elements. The home offers areas of varying scale to provide large spaces for entertainment and gatherings as well as smaller intimate spaces.
